Abstract:
I. The present study includes 50 patients with newly diagnosedhead and neck malignancies who were treated byradiotherapy alone at the Radiation Oncology Unit, ZagazigUniversity Hospital.II. This study aims to evaluate hearing and vestibular functionbefore and after radiotherapy for patients with head andneck tumours in Sharkia Provence.III. All patients were subjected to the following examinationsbefore and after radiotherapy- Clinical examination.- Pure tone audiometry.- Tympanometry.- Electronystagmography.IV. The results obtained from the 50 cases examined, are :a- five cases developed otitis media with effusion (10%).b- Twenty cases developed hearing impairment (40%), 5cases developed conductive hearing loss (10.0%) and 15cases developed sensorineural hearing loss (30.0%).
