Abstract:
Aim Of Our Work Is To Determine The Reliability Of Serial Measurements Of Serum P.S.A. As A Measure Of The Response And As A Predictor Of Disease Progression In A Group Of Advanced Prostate Cancer Patients Underlying Homonal Treatment. Also’ An Increase In The Serum P.S.A Measurements While On Treatment More Than Nadir Levels Can Serve As A Reliable Early Indicator Of Escape from Hormonal Control And Subsequent Disease Progression And No Patient Had Disease Progression While The Serum P.S.A Levels Decreased And Remained At A Plateau After Reaching The Nadir Level Or Remained In The Normal Range After Treatment. Furthermore’ An Increase In Serum P.S.A from Nadir Level Preceeded Evidence Of Clinical Progression By An Average Of 3-6 Months. So That We Consider A Single P.S.A Measurement At 6 Months After Anti-Androgen Therapy Is A Prognostic Factor And Indicator By Which We Can Monitor The Response To The Androgen Deprivation Therapy.
