Study of Bacterial infection in Patients With Thalassemia

The aim of this work is to detect the pattern of bacterial infection in thalassaemic patients in comparison eith that in the normal population with study of bactericidal activity of neutrophils and monocytes in thalassaemic patients and exploring its relations to Hb, S. iron and type of organism.The stduy was conducted on 68 children divided into 2 groups, control group and thalassaemic group.The control group was subdivided into 2 subgroups, non-infected subgroup was including apparently healthy 10 children, 6 males and 4 females with an age range of 5 to 12 years, infected subgroup was including 19 children with bacterial infection, they were 13 males, 6 females with an age range of 4 to 13 years.
