| Abstract: |
The modern trends in the physiology of neuromuscular transmission were discussed; the visualisation of the motor end plates by the technique of interference optics which makes possible the visualisation of the motor end plates, thus facilitating morphological and electrophysiologicalexperiments. The use of immunohistochemical techniques and the introduction of autoradiographic electron microscopy helped the exact localisation and determination of the dens-ity of the acetylcholine receptors in the post synapticmembrane. Description of the formation, storage and liberation of acetylcholine were, discussed in this work. The different theories of block are discussed also here. The aim of this work is to know the pha~acology of some new muscle relaxants and their use in ana-esthesia. It was found that two new muscle relaxants are highly.beneficial for anaesthetic practice and these two drugs are ORG NC 45 (Vecuronium) and Atracurium’whiCh have many advantages over the presently existing muscle relaxants.Vecuronium has the advantages of being of greater potency • than other neuromuscular blocking drugs.
