Abstract:
this experimental work has been planned to study thehisto- and clinicopathological changes in the albino rats liverafter chronic exposure to subanaesthetic dose of halothane.The study was carried on 90 albino rats of both sexesand more or less of the same age and weight. Albino ratswere divided into three groups. Each group was consisted of30 animals, 20 animals were exposed to the subanaestheticdose of halothane (0.5 - 1.0 %), for 3 hours day after day.The other 10 ani mals were not exposed to halothane andconsidered as control group.Group IGroup 11Group IIIThe ani mals were exposed for 30 days.The ani mals were exposed for 60 days.The ani mals were exposed for 90 days.At the end of every month a group of animals were sacrifiedfor the following tests:1) Liver function tests: S.G.O.T., S.G.P.T., S.A.P., S. Glue.,S. Choles., ’LB., D.B. LB. Alb. and glob.Liver biopsy.The study revealed the following :All liver function tests except S. glue, and S. alb. wereincreased as a result of chronic exposture to halothane/
