in the preoperative period it is important to avoid subjecting the patient to anxiety and stress, and to reassure the patient that you have confidence in monitoring for M.H and in providing proper treatment sould it develop.the patient should be well premedicated, but phenothiazines should be avoided as they may release calcium from best avoided unless needed during anaesthesia, and used in small i.v doses premedication can be done with small of diazepam.
