Abstract:
Cisplatin induced ototoxicity is related to impairment of cochlear antioxidant defense system which is formed of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Catalase (CAT), Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-Px), Glutathione Reductase (GR), increase in Malondialdehyde (MDA) (Ryback et al., 1999).Ototoxicity is normally irreversible, bilateral, sensorineural and affects mainly the frequencies from 4-8 kHz (Blakley et al., 1994).Accumulated dose (Brock et al.,1991) and bolus administration (Strauss et al., 1983) are factors that aggravating ototoxicity.
