Abstract:
The aim of this study is to review the different aspectsconcerning surface replacement arthroplasty of the hip and its possibleuses in different diseases of the hip joint.Total hip replacement is the most successful procedures insurgery especially in elderly patients, produces pain relief and returnof function. However, in young patients total hip replacementdurability has been disappointing with early reoperation required forcomponent loosening the bone loss encountered, makes these revisionprocedures challenging for both surgeon and the patient. It is clear thata surgeon advising a hip replacement in a young patient has a duty towarn the patient that failure will occur and that revision procedure willbe necessary in the future.
