Left Atrial V-wave as a determinant of peak pulmonary artery pressure in patients with pure mitral stenosis

This study was carried in Cardiology Department; Faculty ofMedicine; Zagazig University. Our aim was to study if the LA v-wave inLA pressure tracing is a determinant of PA pressure in patients with pureMS undergoing balloon mitral valvuloplasty (BMVP), and if it canpredict the improvement ofPA pressure after BMVP.We studied 50 patients with pure, tight MS; MY area:S 1 Cm2, andwith neither significant MR (more than grade IfIV) nor significant AYD.All the patients were in sinus rhythm.Among the 50 patients, there were 19 males and 31 females. Theirage ranged from 15 to 47 years with mean age of27.96±9.18 years .
