Abstract:
Viral infection is one of the postulated causes of neonatal cholestasis. If certain viruses are proved to have a role in the pathogenesis of neonatal cholestasis, this may be a guide to consider antiviral therapy in management. For this reason, this study was conducted during the period from April 2002 to October 2003 in Zagazig University Hospitals, Pediatric Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Microbiology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University.62 neonates were subjected to the study (44 cholestatic neonates and 18 neonates as a control group).
