Abstract:
The subject of apoptosis is one of the hottest in biology. Apoptosis, also known as programmed cell death has caught the imagination of researchers worldwide. There is a good reason for the interest, it is critical to the health of many organisms, as monitoring the normal function of the immune system. When apoptosis malfunctions, contributes to a number of human diseases, including cancer, autoimmunedisease, and neurodegenerative disorders.Apoptosis has important implications as regards lymphomasubject. Inhibition of apoptosis can be a causative factor in the pathogenesis of lymphoma as in cases of follicular lymphoma.,The aim of this work is to evaluate the use of flowcytometric detection of lymphocyte apoptosis before and during chemotherapy as method for evaluation of chemosensitivity of lymphoma cases. The present study included: 15 patients with newly diagnosed NHL, histopathologically were, 3 patients with low grade NHL, 4 patients with intermediate grade NHL, and 8patients with high grade NHL, beside 10 healthy persons as control. The cases were subjected to:I-Full history taking and clinical examination2- Laboratory investigations including:- complete blood picture .- E.S.R. & LDH- B.M. aspiration, biopsy and immunophenotyping by flowcytometty for classification of lymphoma.3. Histopathological examination of lymph node biopsies to detect the grade of lymphoma .4. Staging by scanning and B.M. biopsy5. Detection of apoptosis by:-The amount of DNA fragmentation detected by flow cytometric analysis of lymphocytes .
