Abstract:
This study includes 30 patients presented with provisionallydiagnosed unilateral or bilaterally obstructed ureter based on clinicaland radiologic examination of their kidneys with mean age of ourpatients was 37 years. All the patients had undergone complete laboratory, radiologicinvestigations and also they had undergone color Doppler ultrasound, radioisotope scanning, and Whitaker test for their dilated kidneys(proved by ultrasound) both pre- and postoperatively.RResistive indx (RI ) Peak systolic velocity - end diastolicPeak systolic velocityObtained from the arcuate vessel at the corticomedullary junctionwas correlated with the half time (TII2) i.e. (time required for) 50%disappearance of the radioactivity from the dilated collecting systemobtained from diuretic renography and differential pressure (renalpelvic pressure - vesical pressure) obtained from Whitaker testbothpreoperatively and postoperatively.Preoperatively we found a close correlation between RI and T1I2.P-value < 0.001 r= 0.52 which was highly significant.
