identification of a serological mediator in chronic idiopathic urticaria

The study included 30 patients with chronic urticaria, and 10 normal control subject. Nineteen out 30 patients were females. It was found that the highest age group of incidence was between (20-40) years old, and the lowest was between (60-70) years old. Patientsw less than 16 years old were excuded in this study. all patients and normal control subjects were skin tested with their own serum , with autologous plasma and with serum that had been heated to 56 to inactivate complement . eighteen (60%) of patients showed awheal and flare response to whole serum. All serum positive patients reacted to autologous plasma and to heat treated serum.
