Advertisments about the use of antioxidant creams to prevent aging of the skin, and others how antioxidants or dietary supplements can prolong healthy life span , protect youth, or prevent disease is increasing. In this review we tried to answer few questions in mind of many people about free radicals. What are these free radicals, how they are generated in the body & how do they react? What are their hazardous roles on the body, especially the skin? What are the antioxidant defences, and how they can protect the body from free radical reactions? c How to avoid injury by thesefree radicals, ifpossible?
