Abstract:
In this work, attempts have been taken to evaluate the circulating granulocyte macrophage colony forming cells (GM. CFCs) in preeclampsia and to correlate them with those in normal nonpregnant and normal pregnant females, and correlate the number of the progenitor cells with their peripheral blood count. Also, assessment of CSA of preeclamptic sera by studying its effect on the number of granulocyte- macrophage colony forming unit in peripheral blood culture in vitro. The results revealed that the number of colonies significantly increased in normal pregnancy and preeclamptic groups compared with control group. There was marked inhibition of the number of colonies in the 3 groups after addition of preeclamptic sera on their peripheral blood culture which might be due to elaboration of an inhibitor. Nonsignificant correlation could be elicited between the number of circulating progenitors and various hematological parameters during normal pregnancy and preeclampsia.
