Evaluation of visual internal urethrotomy in management of urethral stricture

Abstract:
In this study we try to evaluate the V. I. U. as a line ofmanagement of urethral strictures, all of the 30 patients were available, ,~for follow up study by :1- Careful history.2- Urinary flow curve.3- Ascending urethrogram.4- Urethral calibration.The age of the youngest patient was 3 years. and the oldest one was72 years, but the commonest decade was the fourth ( 9 cases; 30% ) .The commonest cause of urethral strictures was catheterization and /or urethral manipulation.The bulbous urethra was the commonest site of stricture inpatients (33% ) . The relation of the length of the stricture and the rateof success is very important since most of our patients were had ashort segment of stricture so, we had got this high good result ( 60 %success rate) .The complications III our patients were I with fever , 3 withbleeding and extravasation, I with rectal injury, I with prostatitis, Iwiht epididymitis, and I patient with partial incontinence, the totalinoidence of complications were ( 20 % ) .
