Abstract:
This essay deals with the study of different anaesthetic equipment, with stress on recent modifications in each of it. The design of anaesthetic equipment was discussed in detaias regards - The types of anaesthetic machines such as a) Draw-over machines (e. g. Ep stein-Macintosh-Oxford) , <basically is consists of a vaporizing chamber surrondeci by a water jacket which act as a buffer BeSainst extremechanges in the t ernp e r e t uz-c of surrounding air • b) Continuous flow machines e.g. Boyle apparutusIn these types gases are delivered from cylinders orpiplines t.h rough a reducing valve to flow met er wh e r-eflow is controlled by a needle valve. Gases then passinto a Magill rebreathing attachment .Intennittent flow machines e.g. Walton apparatus. These are designed to provide flow of gas mixtures ondemand, though with increase of pressure control, c ou t i.nou.flow can be obtained without mon i, t oring by flow met e r •The use of anaesthetic cylinders and accessories needsproper identification of cylinders, safe storage, respectthe filling limits and the use of reducing valves andpressure regulators •
