| Abstract: |
it is a fact that during unconcisiousness, the life of the patient depends primairaly on the presence of a clear airway.various methods are adopted in order to control the airway, for example supporting the jaw, but this is difficult to maintain during prolonged unconsciousness, further-more the danger of aspiration of stomach contents cannot be avoided, insertion of a pharyngeal airway is usefull to prevent respiratory obstruction due to falling bake of the tongue, however the danger of aspiration of stomach contents is still present.
