submucosal spread of cancer larynx and its adequency to safety margin

Abstract:
- This study included 10 patients with laryngeal carcinoma. The mean age was 58 years. All cases studied were males. Hoarseness was the pre- senting symptom of mean duration 5.5 months. The correlation bet sen the smoking and occurrence of cancer la~JDX is well established. Seven cases were supraglottic and three cases were glottic. Only six cases were localized to their anatomical sites. The involvement of other anatomical regions was more with supraglottic tumours. type, The mean diameter of carcinoma was 2 cm •• They were mainly of ulcerative -cases, and only one case was nodular.Well differentiated tumours occurred in 3 cases, moderately differentiated tumours occurred in 6 cases and poorly differentiated occurred in only one case. Submucosal spread was more in poorly differentiated tumours.
