Abstract:
The present study was conducted to evaluate the significance ofserum CA·125 level as a marker for early detection of ascites in cirrhoticpatients and the value of estimating serum and ascitic fluid CA·125 in thedifferentiation between cirrhotic ascites and non cirrhotic ascites.This study included 70 subjects, classified into four groups:Group I: Control group (10 subjects).Group II: Cirrhotic non ascitic (20 patients).Group III: Cirrhotic ascitic (20 patients).Group IV: Non cirrhotic ascitic (20 patients).All subjects of the study were subjected to the following:1-Through history taking and full clinical examination.II- Radiological investigations, including chest X-ray and pelvi-abdorninalUS.III- Rutine laboratory investigations: CBC, liver function tests, renalfunction tests, FBS and ESR.IV- Hepatitis viral and marker anti-belharzial antibodies for cirrhoticpatients.
