Abstract:
Endometrial receptivity means the time in which the endometriumallow implantation. Embryo implantation is determined by multipleinteractive events and depends on embryo quality and endometrialreceptivity. During the last decades, several developments in controlledovarian hyperstimulation (COH), fertilization and embryo culture techniqueshave led to improvement in the number and quality of embryo available forET. In contrast endometrial receptivity has failed to benefit from paralleloptimization, and its disorders are likely to represent an important cause ofthe sub-optimal embryo implantation rates observed in IVF- ET.An accurate method of assessing endometrial receptivity has not beenidentified. The standard method of endometrial dating, histologic analysisof an endometrial biopsy specimen can’t be used in treatment cycles. In anattempt to identify a non- invasive method for predicting endometrialreceptivity during IVF & ICSI procedures, sonographic imaging ofendometrial appearance (pattern and thickness) as well as vascularization bycolor and pulse Doppler were studied. The aim of this work is ultrasonographic evaluation of endometrialthickness and pattern as well as Doppler study of uterine artery blood flow toassess the implantation potential in women undergoing IVF and/ or ICSIprogram.
