Abstract:
The present study was performed on 35 patients of both sexes; 20 ulcerative colitis patients (group 1) and 15 control (group 2).All subjects of the study were subjected to the following:• Complete history taking.• Full clinical examination, with stress on pattern of joint disease, radiological assessment of sacroiliac joints and assessment of joint disease activity using ASAS activity score.• Plain x-rays on lumbosacral region antero-posterior and lateral views.• Laboratory investigations such as: ESR, serum albumin and CBC were done and assay of serum IgG antibody titre for chlamydia pneumoniae.• Endoscopic examination and grading.• All patients with UC were assessed clinically by CAI.In conclusion:• The present study revealed that sacroiliitis is the commonest joint pattern in UC, and the commonest sacroiliac radiological grade was grade 2.• ASAS is a recent accurate score set for assessment of joint disease activity in UC patients and it is positively correlated with colonscope gradings.• CAI, using important clinical and laboratory parameters, is practical and rapidly evaluating method for confirming
