Abstract:
Rhinoscleroma is a chronic granulomatous inflammatorydisease of the upper respiratory tract of insidious onset,slow ly progressive course and benign in nature.I t is a disease of world wide distribution and Egypt isconsidered one of its main foci. In Egypt the disease isespecially prevalent in Sharkia.The aetiologic agent is thought to be Klebsiellarhinoscleromatis. The primary site of affection is nearlyalways in the nasal cavity. The disease may remain confinedto the nasal cavity or may extend gradually down therespiratory tract to involve the pharynx, larynx, trachea andbronchi,This work was conducted at Oto-Rhino-Laryngologydepartment, Zagazig University and it aimed at evaluation ofthe maxillary antrum in cases of rhinoscleroma.To achieve this aim, 50 rhinoscleroma patients wereselected and subjected firstly to CT of the maxillary SInusthen to sinoscopy through the canine fossa route.
