Abstract:
Every patient presenting with otitis media witheffusion should be evaluated for sinusitis and vice versa.The apprepriate treatment of sinusitis, by any lineof treatment, in these patients results in the majorityof cases in the disappearance of middle ear effusion.The persistance of chronic sinusitis is an importantnegative prognostic factor for recovery from otitis mediawith effusion. This factor does not disregard the influ-ence of allergic or other immune-related disease processes.Nasal endoscopy provides a clear view of the nasalcavity, including the middle meatus, in patients withsymptoms of sinusitis. All cases of chronic maxillarysinusitis were associated with anatomical variation and/orpathological abnormalities of the osteomeatal area. So,during diagnosis and ,treatment of chronic sinusitis atten-tion should be given to the region of the middle meatusand osteomeatal area for any anatomical variation and/orpathological abnormalities in order to avoid recurrenceof maxillary sinusitis. Also, nasoendoscopy may havefound the disease earlier than radiography.Frequent lavage of the maxillary sinuses are helpeful
