Abstract:
juvenile laryngeal papilloma remains the most commonbenign neoplastic disease of the child larynx. The majorityoccurs within the first five years of life, with a male pre-oominance. White and black patients are equally affected.However, the disease is more common in areas of generallypoor hygiene and among lower socioeconomic groups. The pat-hogenesis of juvenile laryngeal papillomata is still not co-However, a viral etiology seems to be the~st plausible one. The tendency toward regression at pube-ny suggests a hormonal factor. Clinically, the initial pre-aentation is that of hoarsness or abnormal crying, dyspnoea,cough and finally stridorous respiration. It is quite clearthat direct laryngoscopy and biopsy is the only method ofa correct diagnosis. At laryngoscopy, the lesionmultiple, and appears as sessile or pedunculated, palepink to red, glistening,finely - lobulated growths.
