Abstract:
anaesthesia and surgery produce hyperglycaemia and ketosis in diabetic patients, so the aim is to prepare the patient to be non ketotic and with Normal or only alightly rise in blood glucose level. spinal anaesthesia, is the most satisfactory with minimal side effects.when general anaesthesia is used take care that, chloroform, ether, cyclopropane cause a marked rise in blood glucose level.
