Relatiouship Between Diabetes Mellitus And Hepaitis C Virus

As there is controversy among the different studies conducted allover the world about the presence or absence of an association betweenHCY infection and diabetes mellitus, our work was trying to giveanswers to some questions:- Is the prevalence of Hey infection is high among type 2 diabetes ornot?- Is the histopathology of liver in Hey seropositive diabetics ISdifferent from that in HCY seronegative diabetics?- Is HCY infection has any effect on diabetic profile of diabetics?- Are anti-HCY positive diabetic patients have significant anti-insulinantibodies and hence insulin resistance?.This study was conducted on 80 patients with type 2 diabetesmellitus (DM) and 30 healthy control subjects. It was done in TropicalMedicine Department, Zagazig University Hospitals from May 1999 toMarch 200 1. The aim of the work was to find out the relationshipbetween HCY infection and diabetes mellitus.
