Study of serum vascylar endothelial growth factor and vascular cell adhesion molecule in metasttic breast cancer and response to weekly docetaxel protocol

Abstract:
This study aimed to assess the efficacy and tOXICIty of weeklydocetaxel at a dose of 36mglm2, also to evaluate serum VEGF and serum.,’i VCAM -1 as markers of response to this protocol in metastatic breastcancer who failed anthracycline pre-treatment. Forty female patients withmetastatic breast cancer were included in this study and all patients weresubjected to history, clinical examination, routine laboratory investigations,radiological studies and evaluation of S-VEGF and S-YCAM-I by ELIZA.All patients were treated with docetaxel 36mg/m2 for successive 6weeks followed by 2 weeks rest of treatment (one cycle). Patients wereevaluated for response after one cycle (8 weeks) and responding patientscontinued for 32 weeks (4 cycles) then response and toxicity wereevaluated.
