evaluation of the value of postoperative internal mammary lymph nodes irradiation in treatment of patients with breast cancer

The aim of the present study is to determine whether there is anyadvantage or disadvantage if the internal mammary nodes areincluded in the radiation target volume or not.The study included 80 patients presented to Zagazig University Hospital,Radiotherapy Unit during the period from May 1999 to May 2002.Patients were randomly allocated into two therapeutic groups :Group A who received postoperative radiotherapy to chest wall andlymphatic drainage included internal mammary chain.Group B who received postoperative radiotherapy to chest wall andlymphatic drainage without internal mammary chain.
