Antibodies To Glutamicacid Decarboxylase In Chronic Hepatitis C Patients

This study had been conducted in Internal Medicine Department,Zagazig University Hospitals from April 1999 till April 2002 in order toevaluate the prevalence of HCV infection in diabetic patients incomparison with blood donors. Also we investigated the influence ofseveral epidemiological and clinical factors as well as the role ofnosocomial transmission of HCV infection in diabetic patients. On theother hand this study tried to explain the relationship between chronic HCVinfection and appearance of diabetes mellitus by detection of theprevalence of GAD antibodies in chronic HCV-infected patients beforeinterferon therapy. For this purpose, 200 diabetic patients and 2000 blooddonors (control group) were studied for the prevalence ofHeV infection.
