Abstract:
The carbon dioxide laser provides a safe and efficacioustechnique for treatment of benign laryngeal lesions,that certain precautions are taken.providedIt is possible by means of CO2 laser to remove extellsivepapillomatosis without the risk of postoperative oedema andalso without tracheostomy, although it is not possible to curethe disease completely.Polyps and cysts of the cord are easily vaporized withoutdamage to the healthy tissues and with rapid wound healing andvoice improvement.Carbon dioxide laser provides a good method for treatmerltof subglottic stenosis without tracheostomy, results of CO2laser excision of subglottic stenosis is not so favorable aridfurther studies are needed specially for those due tolaryngoscleroma.The specific advantages of CO2 laser surgery includes:Tissue destruction is precise, immediate and bloodless.Protection of the surrounded structures with preservationof anatomy and functions.
