Study of Lipid Pattern in Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Abstract:
The aim of this work is to study the possible relationship between sensorineural hearing loss and hyperlipidemia.T he present study included 40 subjects withsensorineural hearing loss of which 21 males and 19 werefemales. Their ages ranged between 25 to 80 years and 40normal healthy individuals of matched age and sex wereincluded in this work.All cases included in the study were subjected to thefollowing investigations which include case history, clinicalexamilnations and audiological tests. ECG and fandusexamination also performed laboratory tests including lipidprofile (serum total lipids, total cholesterol, high densitylipoprotein and triglycerides) with estimation of serumcreatinin level were done to exclude renal diseases.A high serum lipid profile was found in nearly allsensorineural hearing loss patients to normal individuals.
