Abstract:
there is no substitute for talking to patients, listening to their problems and acquainting them with the operation.thus the preoperative visit is a subtle educational process for both patient and anaesthetist, the patient learns what anaesthesia has to offer, and if misconception exist they can be diplled.the anaesthetist must inquire about past exposure of the patient to anaesthetics, about allergy to drugs or present intake of drugs which may interact with anaesthesia, these drugs can be examplified by cortisone, monoamine-oxidase inhibitors, hypotensives and tranquilizers.
