this essay gives us a good idea about the historical and physiological bases of the intensive care unit and how computer has shared in its progress, besides,its complications and the resultant psychological problems. the intensive care unit will provide an area for the treatment of scutely ill patients who have a disease which requires intensive and highly skilled medical and nursing services to decrease morbidity and mortality and for the treatment of conditions associated with a high incidence of leathal and possibly preventable complications.
