Onychomycosis in sharkia province clinical and mycological study

Onychomycosis is considered one of the oommon diseaseaffect the nails of patients in SHARKIA. Because of itslong course and diffioulties in its diagnosis and treatm-ent_ all those previous reasons attract our attention forreaching to the proper diagnosis both clinically andlaboratory in our locality.This study included 62 patients of both sexes anddifferent ages, of which 50 were positive and 12 gavenegative results •The patients were subjected to the following :1. Full clinical examination of the nails.2. Laboratory investigation to all cases includinga. Direot microscopic examinations.b. Culture on Sabauraud and actidione media.c. Subculture on rice agar for more different-iation.Finally we can conolude that :Females are more affected than males with ratioof 77.4% to 22.%.%.
