Abstract:
A full review of the available literatures on the subject of ”na i I changes in some skin d i se a s e ” wasundertaken with special reference to embrological, anato-mical and clinical aspects.The interest in Dsils began in the late 19thcentury by investigating the embrology of the human nailas well as the comparative anatomy of the claws of re-p t i Les , birds and mammals. The work of Felix-Pinkus(1927) stands nowadays as a cornerstone of informationon the nail.433 patients of different and com~on skin diseasesi”ssociated with nail affection were e xam i n e d clinicallyand the incidence of nail changes in each disease, thepercentage of each clinical sign in eac0 disease weredescribed, which were identical with those described intbe literatures.The most important nail changes associnted withskin diseases are pitting, onycholysis, ridging, dis-colouration, splitting, striation and s u’<urig ua L kerato-sis.
