Abstract:
SUMMARYSchizophrenia causes suffering as a result of symptoms, its positive and negative symptoms encompass a person cognitive, affective, motivational, and behavioral state. Patients with schizophrenia often have difficulty in identifying their symptoms of illnAim of the StudyThe aim of this study was to:1- Assess and categorize the types of coping strategies among the long term mentally ill patients specifically schizophrenics.2- Assess the association between clinical symptoms and overall coping ability particularly the deferential role of insight and positive and negative symptoms.Subjects and MethodsSampleA sample of convenience of 150 chronic schizophrenic patients was recruited from the Outpatient Clinic of El-Abassia Governmental Hospital for Mental Health.
