Implementation of tom concept in Egyptian construction industry

Companies, which do not implement total quality management, will not becompetitor locally or internationally within the coming seven years due tothe characteristics of the new economical world order.Many constructioncompanies world-wide had begun to implement the TQM concepts based onthe acquired experience of the manufacturing industry .A great number of studies were made on how to make an indicator for TQM implementation inthe industry. One of the most successful of these studies is the one based on the American model of implementation.This can be achieved by answering two questions:[1] Is TQM suitable for application in Egypt taking into consideration themethod of appertain of its construction industry?[2] If it is suitable, what the general form of applying it on the Egyptianconstruction companies?So, the study is divided into two parts, the first part discusses varIOUSconcepts of TQM, the characteristics and challenges which face the- construction industry in Egypt and the main successful elements which- caused. TQM implementation in some countries such as U.S.A and Japan.The second part analysis the U.S.A experience using questionnaire in orderto determine the problems and obstacles which face the TQMimplementation III the Egyptian construction industry and suggest aguideline form suitable for the characteristics of it, through deleting andaddition some of American procedures.
