Abstract:
The general conclusions of the present work are classified into two parts (A and B).I- PART A:-1- The laboratory studies proved that the selected wood species can produce good charcoal for domestic and industrial purposes in considerable yield.2- from the charcoal quality some of the resulted charcoal had relatively high volatile matter and low fixed carbon, which can decrease its value as an industrial grade. However, such defect can be readjusted by further heating or using higher temperatures (>600oC) for good charcoal production.3- Rosa sp produced charcoal with the heighst yield, apparent density and gross heating value.II- PART B:-1- In the upper part (25cm from top) of the locally produced charcoal heap, partial combustion occurs, which supply the heating effect for the lower main pyrolysis part of heap where charcoal is produced.2- Temperature inside the heap is around (400oC), which is suitable for pyrolysis to produce acceptable charcoal.3- For controlling the air pollution around the area of the locally producing charcoal heap, the following steps could be carried out:-a- The heap should be in-doors by building a room around it.b- The exhausted contaminated – air should be scrubbed in water, and treated the contaminated water by alum.
