Abstract:
1- Generally all investigated radial jet nozzles enhanced DO%. N11 is the optimum configuration, and configuration N5 approached N11. For radial jet nozzle: increasing the diameter ratio decreased DO% slightly. Also providing the plate with holes reduced DO%. For nozzles in group two; the optimum angle of discharge equals 450, increasing such angle reduced DO%, also increasing the surface roughness of the plate reduced DO%.2- Increasing jet exit velocity enhanced DO% for both the conventional nozzle and radial jet nozzle. Also nozzle offset distance enhanced DO% slightly for both the conventional nozzle and radial jet nozzle. Increasing nozzle inner pipe diameter increased DO% for the conventional nozzle slightly, but reduced DO% for the radial jet nozzle. So it is recommended for RJN to apply large number of nozzles with small inner pipe diameters than to apply small number of nozzles with large inner pipe diameters. Also increasing nozzle-opening height decreased DO%.4- Radial jet nozzle has limited effect on the discharge coefficient.
