Abstract:
The importance that aggregates play in the design and construction of highway pavement is not well recognized yet.Aggregate is the largest single cost item in highway construction materials. The properties of aggregate and ixtures are of such critical importance to pavement life and performance.Several engineering properties can be used to describe the quality of an aggregate source. In this study, three of these properties were selected to describe the engineeringcharacteristics of an aggregate source. Theyare Los Angeles Abrasion Resistance Value, water absorption percentage anddisintegration in water after 24 hours cheek. To conduct the evaluation of available materials, a total of 98 aggregate sources were utilized and the entirecountry was divided into 16 geographical regions eachrepresents an area with homogeneousin characteristics addition to being within the boundaries of the nine districts of the Road and Bridge Authority (RBA).This study determined the aggregate sources ”quarries”locations, properties number of effective properties ,production years and the maximum hauling distance for eachaggregate source ”quarry”. A computerized assignment model was
