The Design Of The Fixture Using Cad As A Part Of Flexible Manufacturing Systems

ABSTRACTA big concern is given to the ability to manufacture products of highquality in as short time as possible. The sharp reduction in the machining time,due to the modern machine tools, move the focus to the setup of workpiece(70% of the machining cycle time). The trend to product variety, lower unit cost,higher quality and short lead-time is forcing to flexible manufacturing systems (FMS). The fixturing systems, which reduce the setup time and increase thequality, is the significant impediment to truly FMS. Automation, also, reducesthe lead-time and human effort required to fixture design. Thus, an automatedsystem for fixture design, using flexible fixturing system is the scope of thisthesis.
