Abstract:
In this chapter we describe briefly and tutorially theconcept of computer simulation of rotor vibrations due toball bearings. The objective of this investigation is to clarify thestatic and dynamic behaviour of a rotor supported by ballbearings by means of simulation using the digital computer. The simulation of the rotor-ball bearing system vibration isdemonstrated, and the theory has been programmed for ahigh-speed, digital computer FACOM-M-382. The results of thesimulation are presented in the form of graphs obtained fromthe computer.Though ball bearings are widely used in several kindsof machinery because of their excellent performance andadaptability, many problems remaIn to be solved especiallymechanical and acoustic vibration problems. There is nogeneral theory for these problems and the complexity of thephenomena of the vibrational process of a bearing and thedependence of these phenomena on a large number of factorsrender the subject difficult. Furthermore these problems are
