Abstract:
In this study a three dimensional mathematical model has been developed to predict the erosion in the engine internal surfaces due to particulated flow going inside the engine.An arbitrary lagrangian aulerian(ALE)finite difference method is used to solve the governing equations of the flow. this method provides the flexibility to simulate the moving boundaries, like the piston and the valves. the turbulence has beensolved using a technique which switches between the K-3 model and the large eddy simulation (LES) models, according to the local eddy size. this enabled to solve the turbulence taking in consideration the local conditions responsible for generation the turbulence.
