Abstract:
A comparative study of the performance of heat pump using R 12,R 22, R 500 and R 502 had been carried out. Theoretical analysis andexperimental work were carried out to study the effect of using theseworking fluids on the performance of the heat pump system.Experiments were carried out on air -to- air heat pump, using acommercial (680 watt) R 12 hermetically sealed compressor. The heatpump unit was charged with R 12, R 22, R 500 and R 502 as a workingfluids. Experiments have been performed at diffirent ambient arrtemperatures. The analysis based on the compressor performance and exergeticefficiency showed the profitability of R 12 among the studied refrigerants. The comparison based on the dimensionless characteristics showed thatfor the same operating thermal conditions R 12 operates with relatively lowpressure ratio which offers good operation conditions for the compressor.R 22, R 500, R 502 are less attractive for their relatively low criticaltemperatures.
