Abstract:
computer integrated manufacturing system, performs the production activities required to fill orders. In order to effectively control these activities, it is necessary to define a control architecture and functional perspective of how a SFCS operates. A CONWIP (Constant Work- In-Progress) system is basically a hybrid system with a PUSH- PULL interface at the first machine in the line The two main objectives of the research are to develop the shop floor, one of the main issues in the design of a CONWIP system is the WIP level „M‟, to be maintained. This research proposes a new algorithm to determine this optimal level by generate a program using C, which gives the actual value of “M” and then control the storage size . A planning procedure to set the constant level of work in process (WIP for each product type in a job shop operated under CONWIP control is developed. The second main issue is the optimization of the line by determining an appropriate job sequence. This research using a „LEKIN‟ scheduling program and proposes an p r o p e r d i s p a t c h i n g r u l e to find the best sequence. Both the programs suggested for the two subproblems, are tested through computer implementations to reveal their proficiency.
