Abstract:
The present study contains three main groups of beams, in the first group, the strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) beams previously tested experimentally and numerically were analyzed numerically and analytically to validate the present finite element analysis using smeared crack approach. The analyzed beams consisted of two beams. The first beam was the control beam and the other one was the strengthened beam with CFRP plates. Furthermore, a comparison between smeared and discrete crack approaches was studied numerically for the strengthened beam. Finally, the effects of adhesive thickness and stiffness on the performance of strengthened RC beams were also studied numerically.
