Abstract:
This work deals with the design of a double absorption solar water heater. This heater is equipped with a double absorption solar collector. This type of collectors is of great importancein the accommodation of the flat-plate collector to give higher temperature than that obtained from conventional ones.An analytical approach for studying the proposed geometry of a trapezoidal reflecting channel is presented. The effect of the different parameters on the geometry of such channel is studied. Optimum dimensions of the channel are obtained for theassumed width of the finned tube absorber. For the optimized collector, optimum orientation at differentconditions is determined. Two models of the designed reflecting channels are constructed. One of them is lined with aluminium foil reflector while the other is lined with flat mirror. Opti-cal tests are carried out on these channels to verifr the theore - tical results.A double absorption solar collector which is composed of multi channels is constructed. Thermal performance tests are carried out on this collector. A test loop is designed andconstructed for conducting such tests. Experiments are carried out to examine the ability of such collector to fulfil the proposed requirements. The investigation of the experimental results showed good agreement with the theoretical ones which are obtained from the optical analysis. The thermal performance tests showed promising results from the points of view of output temperature and collector efficiency.Diagrams are deduced from the experimental results in the form of charts. These charts can be used to determine the water temperature rise across the collector at different operating conditions.
