Some correlations between vibraation parameters and surface roughness parameters

Abstract:
In order to study the influence of the dynamic performa-nce of the turning machine on the formation of surface text-ure,the vibration analysis was carried out during the cuttingtest at different cutting conditions.The experimental machining was carried out by usingdifferent workpiece materials under different cutting condit-ions such as feeds,cutting speeds,cutting fluid,tool geometry... etc. The effect of these conditions was studied by themeasurement of surface roughness.rThe results obtained in the present investigations maybe concluded as follows:1- The surface roughness increases with the increase ofvibration level.Exessive self excited vibrations(chatter)are encountered durning turning and deterioration ofmachined surface will occur.2- The increasing of the cutting speed causes the increaseof the surface roughness due to the variation of thecoefficient of friction on the tool face which affectsthe dynamic exciting force •.3- The increasing of the feed causes an increase in roughn-ess,this is due to the incre~sing of the chip compression
