Abstract:
An experimental investigation on the performance of spray water cross flowhumidifier through the continuous circulation of the water is discussed. The influence ofpacking and its geometry on the air humidification process is investigated. Theexperiments are made on two mats of packing having the same surface area and differentin the geometrical shape. However, the experiments showed that the best results are givenby the corrugated mat packing. The humidifier behavior and its characteristics have been presented, for eachcase, in terms of the dimensionless groups of water to air ratio and Reynolds number. The empirical relationships between each of Nusselt and Sherwood numberswith Reynolds number through the adiabatic humidification condition are illustrated.First, the specification of the constructed tunnel as well as the measuring instruments and experimental procedure are presented and discussed.
